Broken Melody

Sophia Troetel was a bright senior at the University of Arizona who passed away in the fall of 2025. While double-majoring in Psychology and Spanish, she also minored in Creative Writing, contributing greatly to the art community on campus as a fiction writer and KAMP’s general manager. She was inspired by powerful female writers like Toni Morrison and Yoko Ogawa.

Persona Creative would like to share the piece Sophia submitted to our magazine and recognize the impact she continues to make with her writing. We offer our deepest condolences to Sophia’s family, friends, and classmates.
